Melanie Luxenberg has been a law clerk specializing in personal injury practice since 2008. She has worked at boutique personal injury firms where she assisted clients with various types of personal injury and disability claims and acted as the firms’ social media, website content and marketing consultant. She decided to expand her experience to insurance defence when she joined Malach Fidler Sugar + Luxenberg in 2021. She took on the additional role of mediation co-ordinator to Ivan Luxenberg in 2024.
Melanie graduated from the University of Toronto in 2006 with an Honour’s Bachelor of Arts, double major in History and English. During university, she was a volunteer for the University of Toronto’s Accessibility Services.
Inspired by her father’s love of law, she decided to pursue a career as a law clerk and completed the Accelerated Law Clerk Program at Seneca College in 2008, where she was on the President’s Honours List and received the Stan Gershman Award for Academic Achievement upon graduation. She also volunteered for Seneca’s Accessibility Services throughout the course of her studies.
Melanie volunteered for the Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton (BIAPH) from 2010 to 2011 and sat on the board of directors of BIAPH from 2011 to 2012.
Melanie has presented to the Law Clerks Section of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) and has attended many continuing education seminars offered by OTLA and other legal organizations. She is currently a member of Canadian Defence Lawyers.
In her spare time, Melanie enjoys creative writing and is an avid reader. She also acts as her father’s videographer when he has live performances with his bands for her YouTube channel (so he can subject mediation participants to his drumming).
